As part of our data license agreement with the state government, customers with access to the personal information contained in the Valuer General data need to sign a "Deed" outlining the acceptable use of that data.
It is critical that customers' VG Deeds are filled in, signed correctly as we are audited by the government to check our level of compliance.
There are two versions of the Deed (templates can be found at the bottom of this article):
- one for agencies who are companies
- one for agencies who are sole traders
It's not easy to tell just from the agency name what kind of business structure the agency has, so it's best to check the BLA site. A company will have an ACN; sole traders do not:
The most crucial part of the Deed is that the vendor and purchaser names in the VG data cannot be used for direct marketing (e.g. to create a mailing list, email list, phone list or similar).
If a client fails to return their Deed or has not completed it correctly, we can provide them with access to VG data without vendor & purchaser details by ticking the “Hide Vendor Purchaser details” option in their Account settings:
